The training programme for Gambian nurses at Krishna Vishwa Vidypeeth (Deemed to be University), Krishna Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), Karad commenced on 18/04/2024. The orientation program aimed to familiarize the nurses with the institution, its policies, procedures, and the broader healthcare context.

Orientation Program:

Welcome Address: Dr. Vaishali Rajsinh Mohite, Dean of KINS, extended greetings and welcomed the nurses.

Institution Overview: Dr. Mohite presented the history and mission of KINS, organizational structure, key personnel, campus facilities, resources, and various accreditations.

Curriculum and Clinical Training: Dr. Prakash Naregal provided an overview of the curriculum, program requirements, clinical rotation schedules, and safety protocols.

Clinical Area Orientation:

Simulation Lab Orientation: Conducted by Dr. Prakash Naregal, providing information on simulators and skill training.

Medical ICU & Dialysis Unit Orientation: On 19/04/2024, Dr. Prakash Naregal and Ms. Priya Kadam provided insights into critical care and demonstrated the dialysis procedure.

Clinical Postings:

From 22/04/2024, nurses were posted in clinical areas from 9 am to 1 pm with 12 weeks of rotation. Postings included various ICUs, Dialysis Unit, CATH Lab, Radiation Oncology, Radio-diagnosis Unit, CVTS, OT, Female Surgery ward, and Oncology ward.

Faculty conducted demonstrations on various procedures, and nurses gained skills in ventilator management, ABGs, central venous catheterization, CPR, tracheostomy care, chest tube care, feeding tube care, parenteral nutrition, treadmill with ECG, echography, ECG interpretation, hemodialysis catheterization, chemotherapy preparation, pulse oximetry, CPAP, wound dressing, and neonate assessment.

Theory Classes:

Conducted daily from 2-4 pm, covering critical care nursing, oncology, pain management, palliative care, and cancer emergencies.

Workshops and Activities:

ATCN Workshop: A two-day hands-on workshop on Advanced Trauma in Critical Care Nursing was held on 05/07/2024 and 06/07/2024.

International Nurses Day Celebration: Nurses participated in a rally and cultural program on 12th May 2024.

Extra-Curricular Activities: Nurses went trekking at Vasanthgad Fort on 11/06/2024, visited Prti-sangam Ghat at Karad on 22/06/2024, and attended the Mogara Phuulala music program.

Completion and Certification:

Nurses completed their final examination on 09/07/2024.

A certificate distribution ceremony was held on 11/07/2024, presided over by Hon’ble Dr. Suresh Bhosale, Chancellor, KVVDU, Hon'ble .Prof. Dr. Mrs. Neelam Mishra Vice Chancellor, KVVDU with the presence of Dr. M.V. Ghorpade, Registrar, Dr. Archana Kaulagekar, Deputy Director, Office of International Affairs, and Dr. Vaishali Rajsinh Mohite, Dean, along with other faculty and university officials.

Coordination: Dr. Prakash Naregal and Mrs. Anagha Katti, Assistant Professor, coordinated the training programme under the guidance of Dr. Vaishali Rajsinh Mohite, Dean of KINS.
