One-Day International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Awareness Organized at KIST

Krishna Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) a constituent unit of Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Karad, successfully organized a One-Day International Workshop on “Artificial Intelligence Awareness: Career Opportunities, Employment, Research, Innovation & Start-ups” on 9th February 2026 in hybrid mode. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Microbiologists Society, India and Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science (YCIS), Satara.

The primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness about the rapidly growing field of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on education, industry, research, and entrepreneurship. The event brought together academicians, researchers, industry professionals, and students to discuss emerging opportunities in AI-driven technologies.

Inaugural Session

The workshop commenced with an inaugural ceremony and welcome address by Dr. G. R. Pathade, Dean and Conference Convener, KIST. The program was graced by Hon’ble Brig. Dr. G. Himashree, Director of Research, KVV (DU), as Guest of Honor, and Hon’ble Dr. M. V. Ghorpade, Registrar, KVV (DU), as Chief Guest. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of AI awareness, interdisciplinary research, and innovation-driven education for future-ready professionals.

Technical Sessions

The workshop featured a series of expert lectures delivered by national and international speakers.

  • Dr. Balaji Aglave (Florida, USA) delivered a keynote lecture on “AI Awareness in Agriculture”, explaining the role of AI tools such as drones and sensors in improving agricultural productivity.
  • Dr. Sarita Mahajani (University of California, Berkeley, USA) spoke on “The Code of Life in the Age of Silicon: AI Awareness & the Frontier of Life Sciences”, highlighting the integration of AI with biological and healthcare research.
  • Mr. Ashish Jadhav (Mumbai) discussed “Adaptability in the AI Native World”, emphasizing AI-driven governance, adaptability, and ethical frameworks.
  • Dr. Dayaghan Pendharkar (Florida, USA) elaborated on AI research innovation, commercialization, and the role of AI in medical predictions and data science applications.
  • Ms. Sneha Gharge (Solution Architect, QHills Technology Pvt. Ltd., Satara) presented insights on career opportunities and startup prospects in the evolving technology sector.
  • Dr. Shashikant Shinde (HOD, Electronics & Computer Science, YCIS Satara) delivered a lecture on AI awareness, research opportunities, and the importance of integrating AI tools in academics and industry.

Poster Presentation and Panel Discussion

The workshop also included a poster presentation session, where 33 posters were presented by research scholars and postgraduate students, focusing on innovative research ideas and applications of AI.

A panel discussion was conducted on AI applications in life sciences, healthcare, agriculture, environment, and innovation ecosystems. Experts discussed topics such as AI in medical diagnostics, precision agriculture, climate monitoring, and AI-driven startups, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and research.

Participation and Learning Outcomes

The workshop received an overwhelming response with 148 participants, including 83 offline and 65 online attendees from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as well as faculty members and professionals.

Pre-test and post-test assessments showed a significant improvement in knowledge, with an average score increase from 5 to 9.5, indicating approximately 90% learning gain among participants.

Valedictory Session

The valedictory session included prize distribution for outstanding poster presentations. Dr. Vaishali Mohite, Dean, KINS, KVV (DU), Karad, delivered the Chief Guest address and appreciated the efforts of organizers and participants. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pooja S. Sarolkar, Assistant Professor, KIST.

Conclusion

The workshop successfully served as a platform for knowledge exchange, research interaction, and awareness about the future scope of Artificial Intelligence in research, innovation, healthcare, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. The event reinforced the institution’s commitment to promoting technology-driven education and interdisciplinary research.
