On 13 th September, 2024, the departments of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and Critical Care Medicine, KIMS, KVV, Karad jointly organised a CME on the topic of "Critical Care and Toxicology.
The President for the event was Hon’ble Dr. M V Ghorpade, Registrar of KVV, Karad and was accompanied by Dr. Y R Kadam, Dean, KIMS, Karad and Dr. D K Agarwal, Director of Research, KVV,Karad. The event was chaired by HOD of FMT, KIMS Dr. Chandrakant M Kokatanur and HOD of Critical Care Medicine, KIMS, Dr Shilpa Patil. Dr. Hemanth Kumar RG and Dr. Ajinkya Baulekar as the organizing secretaries, Dr. Nelson N Kumar and Dr. Vaibhav Tulsyan as the registration committee in-charge Dr. Nitin Jadav was the MMC Observer for the event .
The guest speakers were Dr. Harish MM, Dr. Mohammad Abbas, Dr. Shridhar M Gidanganti and Dr. Gururaj V Gunda, who were all prominent super specialist consultants and academicians from the Institute of Critical Care Medicine, Kauvery Hospital, Banguluru, Karnataka.
During the CME Dr. Harish MM gave lectures and enlightened the audience on the management of septic shock through a case based approach and on the current evidence and experiences of management of invasive candidiasis.
Dr. Mohammad Abbas spoke on the topics of protocolised approach to patients with suspected poisoning and on the nightmare in toxicology in the management of paraquat and ratol poisoning which were great eye openers for the audience.
Dr. Shridhar M Gidanganti gave overviews on managing organophosphorus poisoning and nutrition of critically ill patients which were really helpful for the attending audience.
Dr. Gururaj V Gunda offered his insights on the recent updates of managing snake bite patients and on ARDS management with reference to current evidence and experience, which were immensely helpful to the audience. The CME was successfully executed with an overwhelming response by the audience which included faculty members, consultants, PG medical students and PG nursing students and supporting staff.
