One day Workshop on ‘AI-Assisted Research in Drug Discovery and Development: Hands-on Training on Molsoft ICM Pro’was organized at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad

Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad in collaboration with Advent Informatics Pvt. Ltd., Pune successfully organized one day Workshop on ‘AI-Assisted Research in Drug Discovery and Development: Hands-on Training on Molsoft ICM Pro’ for Research Scholars (PG & Ph.D.) and Teachers of Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad on 12th November 2024.The workshop was arranged at Tierra Hall of KIMS, Karadaimed to bring together research scholars and academicians, in the field of computational chemistry/science to share and discuss the various concepts of drug design, free computational software, their functionalities & hands on training aspects. It also provided a platform for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among participants. The workshop included keynote address, expert talks, panel discussions & hands-on training on Molsoft ICM Pro software by prominent expertsoffered attendees valuable opportunities to enhance their knowledge and stay up to date with the latest trends in computational drug developments.
The inauguration ceremony began in the esteemed presence of the event’s president, Prof. (Dr.) N. R. Jadhav, Convenor and Dean of Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad; Chief Guest Dr. Ramesh L. Sawant, Vice-Principal, Senior Prof. & HOD, Dr. VVPF’s College of Pharmacy, Vilad Ghat, Ahmednagar, (M.S.) and Coordinator,Dr. Dipak P. Mali, Assoc. Prof., Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad. Objectives of the workshop were explained by Dr. N. R. Jadhav during key note address.
Dr. Ramesh L. Sawant delivered an expert talk on ‘Fundamentals of Drug Design and Discovery’ wherein he discussed basic concepts involved in drug design and discovery. He emphasized that mere handling of software is not important rather interpretation is more important. Dr. Dipak P. Mali delivered expert talk on the topic ‘Molecular Descriptors in QSAR’, wherein he discussed types of molecular descriptors & their significance in studying QSAR. Dr. Prafulla B. Choudhari, Assoc. Prof., Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Pharmacy, Kolhapur,discussed on topic ‘Online Tools for Computational Research’ wherein he illustrated various free online tools those can be used for computational research.
At evening session, Dr. Mohsin Khan Pathan, Application Scientist, Advent Informatics Pvt. Ltd., Pune gave ‘Hands-on Training on Molsoft ICM Pro software at RA lab wherein he demonstrated how to carry out docking, QSAR studies, pharmacophore modelling & shown other features of the software to the participants followed by valedictory function whereinDr. D. P. Mali proposed a vote of thanks, marking the successful conclusion of the workshop.
